Our QDR Hometown Hero of this week is Ty Williams, a Volunteer Firefighter and Mechanic.
Ty was nominated by his sister Jenice who says, “My little brother Ty was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma at the age of 12 and had his right leg amputated. That didn’t stop him from becoming a junior volunteer firefighter in Hope Mills at the age of 15. He also volunteered at other stations for the next 13 years. On top of being a husband, a father of 3, and working as a full-time mechanic, he is still a volunteer firefighter. He loves helping and saving people’s lives. Ty works all day and comes home to his family and still leaves for every call and does it all again the next day. He may be my little brother, but he will always be my hero.”
Thank you, Ty, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do!
