Our QDR Hometown Hero of the week is Janice Jones, registered nurse from Garner.
Janice was nominated by her daughter Brittney who says, “My momma deserves to be recognized because she is a nurse at Wake Med. My momma has been a nurse for over 22 years, she has worked in many different departments and has cared for many patients. During Covid, she worked tirelessly caring for patients day and night, as well as their families and ensuring that they knew they weren’t alone. Along with caring for patients, she teaches night classes at Wake Tech, to help future nurses learn their basics. Whenever she gets home from work or after teaching classes after a full day of working, she gets up and does it all over again the next day and never complains one bit about it. She loves what she does as well as her staff and making sure everyone is taken care of. I aspire to be like her one day and work right beside her in the medical field. My momma influences me every day with her compassion, love, dignity, determination, and selflessness for others. She is my best friend, my momma, and most of all my hero. I love you momma forever and always!”
Thank you, Janice, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do!
