Our QDR Hometown Hero of the week is Colin Bateman, Volunteer Fire Fighter for Silver Lake, and EMS for Wilson and Edgecombe counties.
Colin was nominated by his mom Paula who says, “Colin has been a volunteer firefighter with Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Department 3 years in March and works part-time for Wilson and Edgecombe EMS (2 years in EMS field). After graduating high school in 2020 he started full time at ECU pursuing his degree as a (PA) Physician Assistant. Colin puts his whole heart into helping people and thoroughly enjoys volunteering with the fire department and working EMS. He cares for the community and is always striving to go above and beyond. Anyone that knows Colin will tell you that he would do anything he possibly could do to help in any circumstance. He is a people person and doesn’t know a stranger. His outgoing personality along with his work ethic is shown both in his volunteer role and EMS. We love you and are so proud of all your accomplishments and look forward to what your future has in store for you.”
Thank you, Colin, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do!
