Our QDR Hometown Hero of the Week is Jordan Childress, a firefighter for the Zebulon Fire Department.

“My son has been a volunteer firefighter since the age of 17 at Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Dept., where  he now serves as an officer. He graduated from the Wilson Fire Academy in 2017 and began his career.  Since then, he has worked hard and is now a lieutenant with the Zebulon Fire Department. On his days off, he also works as a paid member of two other fire departments. He loves his job, and he loves helping people in the community. He doesn’t like public recognition when people thank him. He says, “I am just doing his job — which happens to be the best job in the world.” I could not be more proud of him.”
