Our QDR Hometown Hero of the Week is Conner Edwards, a Volunteer Fire Fighter and EMT at Swift Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
Conner was nominated by his mom Melanie who says, “Conner is just beginning his journey in the fire service. He joined the Swift Creek Volunteer Fire Department after graduating high school. While volunteering, he also attended Durham Tech and earned an associate’s degree in Fire Protection, and will continue to finish a second associates degree this fall in Public Safety and Emergency Management. While doing all of his school, he also attended Johnston Community and earned his EMT. All the while, continuing to volunteer at Swift Creek and working duty crew shifts. Conner is well known and loved in the community of Swift Creek. He is always the first to help his neighbor and, being a jack of all trades, is often called to help with everything from fixing cars to ceiling fan installation. Conner is my herobecause he always puts God, family, friends, and often strangers ahead of any of his needs. He is building his life and career around working in the fire service and helping others.”
Thank you, Conner, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do.
