Our QDR Hometown Hero of the Week is Billy Baker, firefighter for Rocky Mount Fire Department, serving the community for the last 27 years.
Billy was nominated by his son Carter Baker who says, “My dad, he has always loved being a first responder ever since he was little. His father (my grandad) was a fireman and he followed in his footsteps. He has always looked out for his crew and other first responders. He encouraged me to go and become a first responder as well and him and I now work side by side. I work in EMS and he works for the city as a fireman as well as another city as a volunteer/paid staff member. So, him and I run calls together. Like father like son. This is why I am nominating my dad as a hometown hero!”
Thank you, Billy, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do.
