Our QDR Hometown Hero of the week is John Hewitt IV, Captain with the Kinston Police Department. 

John began his career with the Kinston Police Department on February 12, 1996, and he recently retired from full-time duty at the rank of captain after serving the citizens of Kinston for the last 28 and a half years. He has served in many positions within the department, including warrant officer, and has earned well-deserved promotions to sergeant and then captain. John has dedicated his life to serving and protecting others.
