Our QDR Gold Star Teacher of the Month for March is Kristen Lundberg, theatre teacher at Fuquay Varina Middle School.
Kristen was nominated by Barbara Svalina, who says, “We all know our teachers are wonderful, but when a teacher really sees what is in your child before you do and find their niche. Ms. Lundberg saw my son’s potential in drama and really pushed him out of his comfort level without him realizing it. She saw he was confident and his potential. My son said he would never do acting or a musical. Last spring, he was Zeus in a play that Ms. Lundberg wrote, and this December, he will be the Genie in our Aladdin Jr. musical. In today’s world, children either withdraw or get involved where they feel they fit which could go right or wrong. Ms. L gives every child value and purpose. She sees our kids way different then we do as parents. She gives every bit of herself to give back to the children, and, out of all the teachers my son has gone through and all the teachers my older girls went through, I KNOW she’s the most important for our school and my son especially in our personal reasons!”
Kristen received a commemorative plaque from Creative Images in Cary, $100 from Crabtree to shop at Auntie Anne’s, and an additional $100 to shop anywhere at Crabtree, a community staple for more than 50 years! Her picture will also be featured on the jumbo screen at Crabtree, just below the food court for the month of March.
