Hometown Hero of the Week: Rodney and Christopher Burris, February 7th, 2024

Our QDR Hometown Hero of the Week is Father and Son duo, Rodney and Christopher Burris from Sanford.

Father and Son, Rodney and Christopher Burris from Sanford witnessed firefighters tackle a brush fire many years ago and it inspired them to become volunteers and help in their local community. Fast forward and Rodney has been a firefighter for nearly 20 years and he is now the assistant chief at Spout Springs Emergency Service. Rodney loves teaching the rookies and is also a big inspiration to his son Christopher. Christopher has always looked up to his dad who has inspired him to also transition from a volunteer to a full-time firefighter. Christopher is now a full-time firefighter at Fort Liberty and works part time at Carolina Trace. They are both true heroes to their family and their community.

Thank you, Rodney and Christopher, for your service! As a token of our appreciation, we’re sending you a $50 gift card to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q to thank you for all you do.
